DENVER, CO – October 1, 2026 – Spheros Environmental (Spheros), a nationwide environmental consulting firm, today announced the acquisition of PanGIS, Inc., a California-based firm specializing in cultural resource management, archaeology, architectural history, environmental compliance, and geographic information systems (GIS).
Founded in 1998, PanGIS works with public agencies, regulated utilities, construction companies, architecture and engineering firms, and other private-sector clients across power and energy, transportation, government, water, rail, education, development, mining, and environmental services industries. The team helps clients navigate federal, state, and local compliance requirements, including Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), NEPA, CEQA, and California’s tribal consultation statutes AB 52 and SB 18.
“PanGIS marks Spheros’ first step into specialized cultural resources and brings further geospatial expertise to complement our existing team’s work,” said Andra Kidd, CEO of Spheros Environmental. “The team has a long track record supporting NEPA/CEQA and permitting projects for utilities and agencies across the Western United States, and they share our commitment to technical quality and responsive client service.”
PanGIS’s staff of archaeologists, architectural historians, GIS specialists, historians, geographers, technical writers, and editors provides cultural resource surveys, tribal consultation support, construction monitoring, historic structure evaluations, and cultural resource permitting, alongside geospatial services including custom GIS analysis, web mapping applications, remote sensing, and drone-supported data collection.
“Joining Spheros gives our team access to additional technical resources and a broader geographic network, while allowing us to continue building on the client relationships we’ve built across California and the broader West,” said Alice Brewster, President of PanGIS. “We see strong alignment in how our organizations approach quality, integrity, and project delivery.”
The acquisition connects PanGIS’s cultural resources and GIS teams with Spheros’s existing practices in air quality, water resources, climate and sustainability, ecology and natural resources, impact assessment and permitting, and digital solutions and systems. This combination strengthens Spheros’ ability to integrate cultural resource considerations, field investigations, environmental analysis, and geospatial data throughout project planning, permitting, construction, and compliance.
