Silver Springs Data Centers and Scorpio Gas Power Plant

Silver Springs Data Centers and Scorpio Gas Power Plant

Silver Springs, Nevada

The Challenge

The Silver Springs Data Centers and Scorpio Gas Power Plant project represents a first-of-its-kind development on Bureau of Land Management (BLM)-managed lands, combining two 1-gigawatt data center campuses with a 400-megawatt natural gas power plant, 400-megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS), substation, and associated load line infrastructure. The project requires extensive environmental review and permitting to support development of this large-scale energy and data center complex.

Our Solution

Spheros Environmental (formerly Panorama Environmental) is providing environmental planning and permitting support for the project, working closely with engineering teams to define project components and support the NEPA review process. Our team is overseeing preparation of biological, cultural, noise, traffic, socioeconomic, and groundwater studies and integrating findings into technical baseline reports and specialized environmental resource analyses. We are also preparing two Environmental Assessments (EAs) to support federal decision-making and project approvals.

Results +What makes this unique

Currently in development, the project is advancing environmental review and permitting for what is expected to be among the first large-scale data center developments on BLM-managed lands. Its unique combination of hyperscale data center infrastructure, on-site power generation, battery storage, and federal land management considerations requires an integrated planning approach that brings together technical specialists, engineers, regulators, and stakeholders to support efficient project delivery and compliance.
