The Challenge
Aurora needed a strategic plan to guide future expansion of its North Campus water system and evaluate development opportunities in the Lower South Platte system. The challenge was to identify solutions that maximize water supply yield, resilience, and reliability while managing risks and ensuring cost-effective investments in water rights and infrastructure before purchase negotiations begin.
Our Solution
Spheros Environmental (formerly LRE Water), in collaboration with Aurora’s internal stakeholders, developed the Lower South Platte Master Plan to provide actionable guidance for long-term water resource planning. The team identified five Preferred Portfolios designed to optimize Aurora’s water supply and infrastructure strategy. These recommendations help the City proactively address risks, integrate potential new supplies into existing systems, and make informed decisions about future investments.
